Since its introduction over 60 years ago, Thuja Smaragd (smah RAHG) has been the most popular columnar conifer worldwide. Thuja Emerald or “Emerald Gem” is a trouble free conifer that grows into a beautiful almost glossy rich green column, requiring no trimming to look neat and tidy all year round.

Uses:

Use Smaragd as a columnar accent or formal hedge. Plant as markers or posts in narrow spaces or in pots and planters.

Plant Care:

Smaragd can be planted in almost any well-drained soil type and requires little if any maintenance. Trim lightly once a year if planted as a hedge. To maintain a pyramidal, shape to avoid the plant becoming open or bare at the base.
